These versatile and contemporary machine embroidery designs are on a CD. Many of the 100 designs, that are shown in groups, can also be used separately. The designs are perfect to make your own garment lables, add that special touch to a machine stitched buttonhole, create a border or print and stitch an all-over design on yardage.

The formats included on the CD are: .pes, .hus, .pcs,.csd, .sew, .bmc, .dst, .exp.

I'd appreciate hearing from you and seeing how you use these designs. Please send me a drawing or a photo, if possible. Being able to combine the stamping with the embroidery is going to make this a lots of fun.

Once you're past the point of figuring out how to put a collar on, or fitting a sleeve in the armscye...sewing creatively is about using your imagination. Think about it...You've got possibilities! Lois' books give you the spark of inspiration that will set your own mind in motion.

OPTIONS...details for creative sewing

by Lois Ericson, 128 pages, illustrated, soft cover, ($22.50)

I started with many of the options from the Design & Sew Pattern collection and some of the ideas from the Good News Rag (newsletter) -- then moved on from there. The 7 1/2" x 9" format is different from the other 14 books I've written. This one is wire bound so it will open flat, has a frosted looking plastic cover with red/white/black cover that shows through. The colored cover is a photo of a collage that repeats the colors that are the scheme carried thoughout the 128 page book.

OPENING & CLOSING

by Lois Ericson with Anne Charles, 200 pages, illustrated, with 32 pages of full color photographs, soft cover, ($28.00)

From the dramatic cover, to the 32-pages of exquisite and inspirational color photography, to the clear and concise black and white photos and related illustrations, this book covers every type of closure imaginable.

This book is devoted entirely to over 100 different ways to fasten a garment. Lois Ericson is known for her trademark creative closures and believes that garment details make the difference... between an adequate outfit to an exceptional one. Instead of the closure being the last consideration in the garment construction process -- make it the first priority in the designing sequence.

"When is comes to unique closures, there is simply no one like Lois Ericson. Her ability to combine found objects, beads and knots to create unusual artistic closures should make this book a part of every sewer's library."
Sandra Betzina, Hostess of Sew Perfect, author of Power Sewing Books
